Cash is King in Today’s Market

It’s no secret that it’s a buyer’s market today, both in Hawaii and just about everywhere else in America. Prices are down in most areas from the artificial highs of yesteryear and, despite occasional mini-spikes and false call after false call of impending turnarounds, there doesn’t seem to be any hope for a rebound in the near future. We should expect prices to be largely flat for the foreseeable future into mid-2012, if you believe the latest forecasts. Until the banks’ shadow inventories get thinned out, which could take years in order to avoid flooding the market with distressed properties, most buyers should maintain a long-term outlook on their property investments.

But of course, this doesn’t mean there aren’t good short-term flips out there as well. Despite the recent economic times and real estate messes noted in the headlines, there are still properties of all types to satisfy all investors.
